Data Backup Procedure

The IGRINS data is located on 5 different machines:

DCCS - S Detector Control Computer

DCCH - H Detector Control Computer

DCCK - K Detector Control Computer

ICC - Instrument Control Computer

DSC - Data Server Computer

The DCC hard drives are each 1TB, but only 888GB are available for detector readout.

The ICC has a 1TB hard drive, and the DSC has a 250GB fusion drive and two 2TB hard drives.

All of these hard drives are accessible from the ICC once the volumes have been mounted as part of the IGRINS Startup Procedure.

  1. Connect external Hard Drive to the ICC and open a finder window.
  2. Copy the first and last month of an IGRINS deployment (to McDonald or DCT) spectral files from the DCCH and DCCK to the external drive.
  3. Delete all unnecessary files from the DCCs to keep them from filling. This needs to be done every 2-4 weeks.
  4. Check the backup space on the DSC to avoid full hard drives.
