Atlas frozen or not able to log in

If you start a night for IGRINS observing and Atlas, the observing room computer, seems frozen you first try calling John Kuehne (ask for phone number) if you can. He might be able to reset Atlas and diagnose the issue. If you are unable to contact him and still need to reset atlas, follow the instructions below.

If you are not an experienced observer DO NOT attempt this, instead call for observing support staff using the walkie-talkie, the phone in the observing room, or your personal phone calling the numbers on the white board in the observing room.

ONLY FOR EXPERIENCED OBSERVERS

Atlas is located on the rack to the right of the observer’s desk in the observing room. See the yellow square below.

The power button is pictured below. To power cycle the computer if it has hung, hold the power button down until the computer turns off. After the computer has shut off, press the power button once. If the screens on the desk do not show the computer powering on, press the power button again as Atlas might require the power button to be pushed twice after a hard shutdown.
