Hardware Components

Vehicle Control Unit (VCU)

  • Controls motor & motor precharge contactors using inputs from driver controls

  • Monitors precharge board outputs to ensure safe HV state

  • Sends torque command to motor controller based on pedal state

Charger Interface Board

  • Interfaces our HV system with the Elcon HK-MF-108-32 charger

  • Handles CAN communication between the charger and BPS

  • Boosts charger 12V output to 24V to power the BPS

Precharge Board

  • Contains precharge resistors to limit inrush current to Motor Controller & MPPTs

  • Uses isolated amplifiers to measure voltage on either side of resistors

  • Passes through 2x contactor drive/sense from VCU

Motor Controller Interface Board

  • Converts 24V to 12V power for the motor controller & provides power protection

  • Uses motor controller temperature CAN messages to control cooling fans
