Dyslexia Training

TEA requires that all candidates seeking initial certification must receive instruction in the detection and education of students with dyslexia as required in the Texas Education Code [TEC §21.044(b)] and the Texas Administrative Code [reference 19 TAC §228.57(c)(2)].  

UTeach Fine Arts students must complete TEA’s 6-credit module of Dyslexia training available on TEALearn. Please see below for instructions on how to get started.

Note: Upon completion of the training, you must download the TEALearn certificate and provide it to your faculty for your student record.

Complete the Required Dyslexia Training in TEA Learn

How to Register: 

  1. Go to:https://register.tealearn.com/browse/tea/dyslexia/courses/tea-dyslexia-2025-2026

  2. Click on Enroll.

  3. If you already have a TEA Learn account, click on Sign In.

  4. If you do not already have a TEA Learn account, complete the form fields and click on the Register button.

  5. Note: You will need to provide your Unique ID number (Uniq-ID) to create an account. You can find your UNiq-ID on your TEAL profile. If you are an educator and do not yet have a TEAL profile, follow instructions at https://tea.texas.gov/WorkArea/linkit.aspxLinkIdentifier=id&ItemID=2147512257 to create one.

    1. To find your Unique ID on your TEAL user account:

      1. Log in at https://pryor.tea.state.tx.us/ with your TEAL user name and password.

      2. Click Edit My Profile in the Self-Service menu on the left.

      3. Look for the Uniq-ID label under the section with your name information. The ten-digit UID is next to it.

      If there is no Uniq-ID, click on the Click Here link and fill in the SSN and other information required to match your profile to your Uniq-ID.

  6. In the window that opens, click on Enroll in Course.

TEA Learn is hosted in Canvas. Your TEA Learn courses will look much like your courses at The University of Texas at Austin.

Verify Completion of the Dyslexia Training

Once you have successfully completed your course and met the requirements for receiving credit, you will want to access your TEALearn certificate.  Follow these steps to find your completion certificate.

  1. Navigate to register.tealearn.com

  2. Links to an external site. This is the site where you first registered for this course.

  3. Click on Login in the top upper right corner and log into the registration site using your TEALearn login and password.

  4. When you are logged in, you will see your name in the top right corner of the site. Click on your name. 

  5. In the menu that opens, click on Student Dashboard.

  6. The dashboard will display all of your courses and their status.  

  7. To access a certificate, click on Completed and find your course. 

  8. Click on Download to download your certificate and save it to your computer. 

  9. For certification purposes, your program must retain a copy of your certificate of completion.  Upload the certificate to your program as directed by your faculty.

Don't see your certificate? Check your course to make sure you have completed all the requirements to receive credit for the course.
