Hierarchical depth of collections and sub-collections in the DAMS

The hierarchy illustrated below is what DAMS users will be expected to adhere to until further notice:

•  

  • Namespace collections (Architectural Collections, Benson Latin American Collection, etc.)

    • Sub-Collection 1

      • Sub-Collection 2 (optional)
        
        

        • Digital Asset

This decision is informed by four main factors:

1. Recommendations for optimal performance now

2. Considerations for ease of migration to a newer version of Fedora in the future

3. Appropriate level of custom configuration and development for this initial implementation

4. Adding more hierarchy if needed is a more natural progression and easier than removing unnecessary or problematic hierarchy
