UT Libraries Metadata Documentation
This wiki space contains documentation on metadata for UT Libraries materials, including policies, best practices, guides, workflows, and tutorials for specific programs or processing methods.
Metadata practices are governed by the UT Libraries Metadata Policy. The policy is also provided in full on the wiki.
Currently this space is maintained by the Metadata Analyst, Devon Murphy. If your question is not answered in the wiki or if you'd like to suggest a tutorial/guide, please send a message to devon.murphy@austin.utexas.edu
Navigate this wiki by using the search bar or by browsing the page trees (available below or on the left sidebar.)
This wiki assumes the reader has some basic knowledge about metadata.
If unfamiliar, check out the "Metadata Basics" guide in the "Other Useful Spaces" section.
Definitions
This wiki and the General Metadata Policy apply to both bibliographic and digital collections metadata.
“Bibliographic” metadata is defined as information pertaining to the physical and e-resource collections located in the library catalog.
"Digital collections" are defined but are not limited to materials within the UT DAMS/Collections Portal and its related collections sites HRDI and Primeros Libros, as well as self-contained repositories like AHPN and LADI.
