Webinars

  • Linked Data User Group's All-Users 2024 Fall Meeting featuring Ruth Kitchin Tillman

    • Blog post

    • Elliot – Ruth talk was great. I got a lot about it.

      • Useful in thinking about data clean up and enhancement of our MARC records that would make it easier to transform it to LD in the future

      • Where should that clean up take place and what is the value of doing it in the local catalog, vs. oclc

    • Hannah – is the expectation that every single field is going to be linked data?

      • There are a series of tools and conversion scripts that institutions are going to use. They can or cannot account for all fields (LC conversion spreadsheets)

      • We will need as a community to prioritize what we want to make sure is not lost

      • We have been looking at what vendors have to offer on their end – how are they planning to do the conversion of our records, how are they planning to leverage linked data for discovery

    • Hannah – how does Wikidata fit in the implementation of linked data for libraries?

      • Platform to create and manage entities that can be reused in library workflows

  • Webinar Wednesday, October 30, 2024 - Using Linked Open Data in Primo VE - Person Entity

  • Upcoming Webinar today – https://ala-events.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJEtc-qrpzkvHNLQC8SnYGQV3j9wDLaaTAsu#/registration
