UT Email
Beginning in Spring 2025, The University of Texas at Austin implemented an official student email policy to strengthen communication, security, and access to University resources. Through this initiative, all current students received an official UT Austin email address in Microsoft 365 using the “@my.utexas.edu” domain, which serves as the primary email address in their student record. The transition provided students with enhanced security features, more consistent communication with faculty and peers, and access to Microsoft 365 tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and Teams. Descriptions of different emails across UT:
@my.utexas.edu - this is the OFFICIAL UT email domain assigned for student emails [email cannot be set up to forward to another email]
@austin.utexas.edu - this is the OFFICIAL UT email domain assigned for employees. Students who had this prior to the @my.utexas.edu roll out, this will be their official UT email on file.
@utexas.edu - this domain is considered a PERSONAL email and not an official UT student/faculty/staff email. Encouraged to set up as you approach graduation.
@mail.utexas.edu - old domain that is also considered a PERSONAL email for those who still use it
