Computer Best Practices

Personally owned laptops should only be connected to the UT WiFi, UTEXAS.

Your PI may provide you with a computer.  UT policy requires the local IT office to configure and submit these orders. 

All users should be familiar with the UT acceptable use policy

It is against UT policy to store sensitive UT data on personally owned devices.  Sensitive data includes student grades (if a TA for a class), contractual protected research data, etc.  

When logging into UT owned computers, use your EID for daily tasks.  If software needs to be installed, contact the IT office for the current local admin password.  This password periodically changes for security reasons.
