THEATRE and DANCE UNDERGRADUATE ADVISOR INFO

FALL or SPRING Semester

From 1st to 6th day of classes:

From 13th day of classes to mid-semester deadline:

  • Deadlines: Visit CoFA Office of Student Affairs Website

  • Drop a Course: Visit Texas One Stop Academic Q-Drops website

  • Withdrawal (drop all classes): Visit Registration Change System

  • Pass/Fail: Visit CoFA Office of Student Affairs Website

  • Late Adds are not permitted after the 12th day of classes.

From mid-semester deadline to last day of classes:

  • Deadlines: Visit CoFA Office of Student Affairs Website

  • Drop a course: If not already utilized, request a One-Time Exception drop via Texas One Stop Academic Q-Drops website.

  • Withdrawal (drop all classes): If not already utilized, request a One-Time Exception withdrawal by reaching out to cofastudentaffairs@austin.utexas.edu or obtain approval for a Medical Withdrawal.

SUMMER Sessions

APPOINTMENTS & AVAILABILITY

  • Drop-In Advising:
    When my door is open or if the sign on my door shows "I'm Here, Please Knock", students are welcome to chat with me.

    • Students may need to set up an appointment if I have a scheduled meeting starting soon.

    • This option may be unavailable during registration advising periods (March, April, October, November).

       

  • Advising Appointment:
    Hours are typically M-F 9:30 am to 12:30 pm & 1:30pm to 4:30pm.

    • Summer and semester transition periods may have limited availability

Foreign Language

  • BFA Acting, BFA Dance & UTeach - Beginning Proficiency required for students with a Foreign Language Deficiency (lacking two years of the same high school foreign language)

  • 2020-2026 BA T&D - Intermediate Proficiency required

  • 2026-2028 BA T&D - Beginning Proficiency required

BA General Culture / Additional Humanities

  • Course may not satisfy both Core and this requirement.

  • Courses outside the Department of Theatre and Dance that are cross-listed with T D courses may not be used to fulfill this requirement.

DROPPING a Course

Students may Drop a Course Online.

WITHDRAWING from ALL Courses

Prior to the mid-semester deadline, students may withdraw for any reason. Please visit the Registration Change System to initiate the withdrawal. You will also be prompted to reach out to cofastudentaffairs@austin.utexas.edu to set up a one-on-one meeting with a Student Affairs staff member. Though their permission is not required to withdraw, they’ll review options, resources, and readmission items with you. 

Late REGISTRATION for ALL students not yet registered ($25-50 late registration fee added)

Please contact the COFA Office of Student Affairs to begin the registration process.

Late ADDS for NON-THEATRE & DANCE Courses

Please contact the Department offering the course to learn about their late add policy and procedure. For example, contact the History Department for History courses.
