2014-2015 Term Proposal

Training grant pilot

  • $10,000 to fund pilot program for professional development grants.

    • These grants would look to address development gap between Lynda.com and department skills training.

    • Fund development that individual units do not have a clear incentive to fund.

    • Give staff a greater role in determining training objectives.

      • Fund all or part of training costs..

      • Opportunity for individual staff to define their own development.

      •   Opportunity to articulate our vision of employee experience, development, growth.

      • Develop staff to benefit a broader university wide scope.

    • Funds to be administered by Staff Council committee.

      • Staff would submit proposals for funding.

      • The committee would look to include training for a diverse all kinds of staff.

      • Staff provided grants would provide writes-up of their experience, similar to student internships.

Lynda.com marketing

  • Assist with Lynda.com roll out.

    • Facilitate brown bags and larger presentations university-wide.

      • Coordinate space and event production.

      • Coordinate word of mouth marketing.

    • Identify student, faculty, staff Lynda.com success stories for new website.

    • Solicit interested student, faculty and staff to curate topical playlists showing how to build skills on Lynda.com.

Mentoring programs

  • Mentoring opportunities via UTlists

    • Produce FAQ for new UTSC website detailing how UT list service can be used for mentoring in various communities of practice.
