Conclusions and Future Work-JH
Overall, my 5-bar sliding mechanism worked as expected. By changing the angles of the mechanism, I wasn't sure if it was going to perform as well or the same, however, I believe it exhibited the motion that was simulated by the PMKS as well as by the analysis performed in Matlab. In the future, I would like to figure out a way to integrate a motor and allow the motor to have solid contact with the input link and have enough torque to power the system. I also would like to experiment with different link lengths to see if they affected the quickness of the return more or allowed for greater range of motion. I'd also like to laser cut wood instead of 3-D printing to experiment with different materials as well as using a different ground material to possibly reduce friction and make the mechanism slide easer. This project was very enjoyable as a whole and it was really neat to create something that works as expected.
