7. Conclusions and Future Work - WCC

The final prototype functioned properly both by itself as well as with the motor, even with the materials built through the at-home process. It also accurately recreated all link and slider movements in the kinematic analysis, and demonstrates the original design concept of transforming rotational movement into a translational movement. All sections of the report can also be seen in the final video, which can be found in the appendix.

For future work, I plan to work in the field of vibrational movements in machinery. The work provided from the project allowed for the study of downtime and failures that occur due to the uneven distribution of weight in the parts of the mechanism. This uneven distribution is the main cause of forced vibrations in machinery and should be minimized when possible. In future works, better distributing weight can accommodate for smaller vibrations, which is better suited for any mechanism.
