Adobe Premiere Pro - How to Add Timecode Burn In Overlay

Open Timeline

In the project window click on New Item >Adjustment Layer

The Adjustment Layer should be automatically set to the timelines size so click OK

Drag the Adjustment Layer from the project window to the timeline

Drag the Adjustment layer all the way to the end of the sequence so it covers the whole timeline

In the Project Window Click on the Effects Tab

Might have to click on the more options icon to see Effects

>Effects

>Video

>Metadata and Timecode Burn-in

Then drag the >Metadata and Timecode Burn-in to the adjustment layer

Next modify the burn in

Go to the Effect Controls Tab (this will be in the upper left corner of the monitor)

 

Go to the >Metadata & Timecode Burn-in (twirldown)

 

Change Line 1 to Sequence Timecode

 

You can also customize the Size and Opacity of the burn in

Now the burn in will show on the timeline displaying the sequence timecode for the sequence
