On-boarding Information for New Staff
YOUR FIRST DAY
Review on-boarding email sent from Human Resources regarding UT New Hire Orientation and Dell Medical School Orientation.
WHEN YOU FIRST ARRIVE AT THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY
After meeting with Human Resources regarding policies/procedures you will report to your department.
To-do list for your first day:
Check-in with the department when you arrive
Obtain your UT ID at the Flawn Academic Center
Meet with IT, receive your laptop and log on with your UT EID
Tour the office or work area and meet faculty and staff
Start getting to know the University’s email system and other computer applications you might use
YOUR FIRST WEEK
During the rest of your first week, you will gain a better understanding of the University, Dell Medical School, and the Department. Make sure to review the University and department websites.
To-do list for your first week:
Meet with your supervisor(s) about your areas of focus, key tasks, and development goals
Set up calendars and permissions—ensure executive staff has full calendar access
Determine meetings you should attend (see below)
Get key form and walk to Keys Building (SER) for office keys
Send a photo and short bio statement to Natalia (view sample)
Review onboarding materials and key partners (see below)
Sign up for DMS newsletter, Psychiary Newsletter, and other appropriate listservs
Start UT compliance modules (check your UT email)
YOUR SECOND WEEK
To-do list for your second week:
Meet with staff to discuss support and operational needs
Discuss budget/accounts and related procedures
Order business cards, if needed, through your designated admin team member/Senior Program Coordinator
Continue with administrative tasks/on-boarding
Start scheduling 1:1 introductory meetings with key stakeholders based on guidance from supervisor(s)
REGULAR MEETINGS
Dell Medical School:
All-Hands Meeting (every ~2 months, led by Clay Johnston—for all DMS faculty and staff)
Department:
Standing staff meetings
Monthly Department Meeting for all faculty and staff
Standing meetings with faculty, as necessary
One-on-one:
Standing 1:1 meetings with supervisor(s)
Other 1:1 meetings with other relevant stakeholders within DMS and/or UT
