Self Service Plus
The application used by all macOS users at UT Austin is called Self Service, renamed for us to “UT Self Service”. This application is made by the software management company Jamf. It is built into the tool we use to manage all macOS endpoints. The technology has been upgraded to a new version called Self Service Plus. This change will have a few notable impacts that you may see on your managed Apple device.
Once the new Self Service Plus is installed on your machine, you will see a new menu bar icon in the top right of your Mac (show below). This will be a cross icon for any unit not currently using Jamf Connect to log in. For units with Jamf Connect for log in that icon is set by your local IT teams.
Jamf Connect users:
If your unit already uses Jamf Connect the menu bar icon has already been a part of your machine. You can continue to use the drop down to manage account credentials just as before. In addition to the previous menu options, there will now be a link to go directly into the Self Service Plus app for application installation or a larger view of account information.
Original Behavior:
Old Self Service dock Icon
Old Self Service interface
New Behavior:
New Menu bar icon (Note the plus icon next to battery. If your unit uses Jamf Connect for login this may be a different logo)
New Self Service Plus interface
