Signage in the IRC
Signage
1. Magnetic field signs. Conspicuous signs advising of the existence of high magnetic fields are posted on the magnet and control room doors. The signs will contain warnings to wearers of pacemakers, as well as general warnings against carrying magnetic materials into the facility. This includes signage that states, “DANGER. THIS MAGNET IS ALWAYS ON!”. Field line boundaries for 5 Gauss and 50 Gauss field strengths are marked clearly on the floor of the magnet room to guide evacuation and other related procedures.
2. Magnet room door. A sign is placed at the entrance to the magnet room stating, “NO EMERGENT CARE CONDUCTED IN THE MAGNET ROOM.”
3. Emergency contact phone numbers. The name, work extension, and home phone numbers of the Operations Administrator and other Senior Staff will be posted conspicuously on the magnet room and control room doors.
4. Area signs. Markers that conspicuously demarcate the facility areas (vide supra) are posted at each doorway that leads to an area of higher access restrictions.
5. BSL signs. Rooms with BSL classification shall be clearly marked on the door with brief descriptions of the procedures approved and access information.
