Fire Emergency

Purpose

This page describes the procedures you should follow if a fire emergency arises in the Imaging Research Center.

Introduction

Follow the procedures below in the event a fire emergency presents itself in the IRC.

Instructions If In The Norman Hackerman Building

  1. Get out of the building - don't worry about quenching the magnet If you have a research subject, instruct them to come with you.
  2. Once you get outside, call 911. Tell the 911 operator about your situation, and that the location of the emergency is in the basement of the Norman Hackerman Building on the UT campus. Tell the operator that you will meet the emergency responders at the intersection of 24th Street and Speedway.
  3. Inform the emergency responders of the situation, and make sure they know the status of the magnet (quenched or not).
  4. Inform IRC staff of the situation.

Instructions If In The Health Discovery Building

  1. Get out of the building - don't worry about quenching the magnet.  If you have a research subject, instruct them to come with you.
  2. Once you get outside, call 911. Tell the 911 operator about your situation, and that the location of the emergency is the Health Discovery Building at 1701 Trinity St. Tell the operator that you will meet the emergency at the street entrance of the building on Trinity St.
  3. Inform the emergency responders of the situation, and make sure they know the status of the magnet (quenched or not).
  4. Inform IRC staff of the situation.
