New Eurotherm Type C Linearization Upload

  • The new Eurotherms we use don't have the Type C linearization curves on them by default. This means we need to use a external software (provided by Schneider--Eurotherm) whenever we want to install/reconfigure a new eurotherm onto the system

Procedure

  1. Plug in usb-to-d’sub connector to the comms port on the back of the Eurotherm box (this is the connector where the rainbow cable is typically plugged in)

    1. There should be a labelled cable with the Leybold computer for this

  2. Launch iTools Wizard-- may have to go through your directory where you installed iTools as it downloads several programs **This has only been tested on Windows

  3. Connect to your device

    1. Ensure that the eurotherm is NOT in config mode

    2. To scan, select the option "connect via CPI clip or IR cable," it should pop up as a COMx, where x is the specific port number

  4. When selected, it should prompt you to launch an iTools session, click Launch

  5. From here, you're connected to the Eurotherm. Click on "Load" at the top of the screen

  6. Navigate through your directory to locate the type C linearization file

    1. \Program Files (x86)\Eurotherm\iTools\Linearizations\Thermocouple

    2. Here you may have to select "All Files," we want an .mtb file, and the default is some other format

    3. Click on "t024 - WRe(5pc)-WRe(26pc) - Hoskins type C.mtb" and load it

  7. It will now automatically load it onto the eurotherm. After the thermocouple is loaded, the linearization curve you added will be in the custom thermocouple address on the Eurotherm. Check that the Eurotherm correctly took the file by going to the Config/IP/inPt menu. The type C thermocouple might show up a few different ways, like “t24C” or “t024” or “C tc”. Different versions of the iTools software might label it differently, so you might need to check that the option shown is actually type C. Worst case scenario is you call/Email tech support for help.
