WiFi for IoT Devices

WiFi for IoT Devices

A WiFi network called “utexas-iot” has been created to help connect devices that do not work with “utexas.” To get a key to connect to “utexas-iot,” please visit https://network.utexas.edu and register the device.

Some Internet of Things (IOT) devices (e.g., Amazon Echo or Apple TV) only work on home WiFi networks, lacking the enterprise capabilities necessary to connect to “utexas.” This new offering works like a home WiFi network. Either may be used in accordance with the university’s Acceptable Use Policy, but “utexas” is recommended due to better security if the device supports both.
