Lab Policies and Agreements

All UT Austin room-use policies, Department of Art and Art History, and Print Area policies apply to our laboratory spaces. Students are asked to sign the following lab agreement at the start of every semester. Failure to abide by any University, Department, or Area policy can result in expulsion from the print laboratories. Students utilizing the Serigraphy studio and equipment are required to sign an additional agreement linked below.

RISO Room

UT Print operates a student-run Risograph lab open to any UT student, faculty, or staff member to utilize. All funds received for orders placed returns to the room to purchase supplies. Student RISO fellows operate the RISO printer under the supervision of sponsoring faculty Annie May Johnson and Annie Klein. Payment can be received in cash (exact change rounded to nearest dollar), check, or money order. Our program offers 13 inks across a variety of paper colors. Most papers come in text and cover weight options.

GAPP (Guest Artist in Print Program)

The Guest Artist in Print Program (GAPP) invites contemporary artists working in print media for a one week residency at UT's print shops to develop a new project with the assistance of print faculty and students. In addition to presenting a public lecture, visiting artists directly engage with undergraduate and graduate students through studio visits, workshops, and/or class visits.

Since 1979 GAPP has invited notable contemporary artists such as Luis Camnitzer, Squeak Carnwath, Karl Wirsum, and Judith Linhares to create new work alongside students. This unique program encourages and expands the dialogue about contemporary print and the expanded field at UT while also fostering an invaluable collaborative exchange of ideas, processes, and techniques.
