Hours

Woodshop hours are posted on the entrance and exit to the woodshop. Generally, these hours are:

  • Monday – Thursday: 8am – 8pm

  • Friday: 11am – 7pm

These times are updated weekly and are always subject to change. The woodshop is closed on the weekends.

The woodshop can be closed at the discretion of the lab manager on duty. In that event, signage will be posted.

Access

The Woodshop can only be used by students working on assigned projects who are currently enrolled in:

  • Studio Art

  • Design

  • Art Education

Students enrolled in these classes may only work in the woodshop if they have undergone the orientation process as part of their class.

Orientation and Reservation

All orientations are to be scheduled by faculty members who can contact the lab manager to make the necessary arrangements. Click here for the shop rules and orientation handouts. Once the orientation is completed, students will be able to scan their ID at the door to access the lab.

Faculty wishing to reserve the lab for their class can email the lab manager to make arrangements. Shop reservations are on a first come, first served basis. Contact Khanh Nguyen to get started.

Wood Lathes

Students who wish to use the wood lathes must undergo a separate orientation before any usage of those wood lathes. That orientation will be at the request of the faculty of their current class and will be conducted based on the availability of the lab managers.

Safety and Usage Policies

Woodshop safety guidelines and policies:

Anyone using the lab who exhibits any unsafe behaviors will be removed from the woodshop immediately. Examples of these behaviors include:

  • Alcoholic intoxication

  • Drug use

  • Exhaustion

  • Horseplay

  • Abusive acts and/or language towards others

Everyone using the lab is expected to follow all safety procedures as outlined in the orientation and the lab managers will always have the final say in matters of safety and machine usage.
