Lost and Found

General lost and found items are placed in the circulation desk cabinet in the far right corner.

This cabinet should be reviewed and cleared at the end of each long semester under the direction of the Circulation Services Supervisor.

Instructions and exceptions are listed below:

INSTRUCTIONS

  • If possible, we will try to identify the owner of the item, and your supervisor will email them from the official Architecture email account.
  • If you put something in the Lost and Found, tell the other people working that something was turned in; it makes it less confusing if the patron comes up a few minutes later.

PUT IN LOST AND FOUND:

  • Things not labeled with identifying information like a phone number or name
  • Things of little monetary value: notebooks, sunglasses, calculators, etc.
  • Clothes (If extremely smelly, like sweaty shoes, please put them in a bag.)
  • Non-library books
  • Computer cables, chargers, headphones

GIVE TO YOUR SUPERVISOR:

  • USB flash drives
  • Items with a name, phone number, or any identifying information (check inside cover, pages, etc.)
  • ID cards (UT, Driver's license, passport)
  • Library books from other libraries  (Austin Public, Law, etc.)
  • Things of great monetary value: Laptops, tablets, cell phones, jewelry, wallets, etc.
  • Bags, backpacks, purses
  • Food or Drink (Give to your on duty supervisor; do not leave it on Dan's desk)
  • Dangerous things: Exacto knives, etc.

USB DRIVES will go in the little box under the counter, on the shelf with the DVDs on hold, after a supervisor has attempted to email the owner.

COPY CARDS go in the lost copy card drawer.  If you can write a date and amount on the card in pencil, that is great.  If the amount of money on the card is large (more than a few dollars), please give that to your supervisor.

PENCILS, PENS, MARKERS go in the pencil donation cup.
