Research faculty vs. research staff
The key distinction between research faculty vs. research non-faculty positions is that research faculty must demonstrate evidence of engagement with the academic enterprise through teaching, mentorship, or supervision of students at some level. Research faculty positions are professional-track.
Unlike other staff positions, research staff and affiliate positions follow guidelines set by the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost (EVPP) and Vice President for Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors (VPR), and any related administrative processes route through those offices for approval.
Both research faculty and research staff are 12-month positions with employment dates following the September 1-August 31 calendar.
