Start by logging into the iPad.

You may need to get the password from someone else in the office.

Check the WiFi connection. If it’s not connecting to utexas-iot WiFi network then check with Brian to get it connected.

Open the app UT-Track. The app should open with a bunch of empty fields.

For the UT EID use ‘Khaled’

Then select the ‘Find BLDG’ field. When you type in the buildings name, like CMA, you will see options appear at the bottom of the screen. For example, when I type in CMA, the name like 0180 appear at the bottom. But you can’t just click on it. You have to scroll the window before getting the option to click on it. And it very well may change to a different building all tougher because the UT-Track app is just awful and really terrible. So once you find the NUMBER for the building you really want you may have to manually type it in instead of selecting it. It’s just an awful existence at this point.

Once you manually type in the building number then you can tap on the entry at the bottom and it will fill in the BLDG ABREV and BLDG NAME fields.

Now you can click on the ‘Room’ field and enter the room number. Like 4.142 or 5.170. And just leave it at the main room number. Don’t worry about any of the A, B, C suffixes.

Now you can click ‘Done’

In the top right corner you can select the Scan button. This brings up the camera. Point the camera at the TAG until it scans the barcode on the TAG. You can scan multiple tags now.

Once you are done scanning you can click the X in the upper left hand corner.

At the bottom of the screen is the list of stuff you scanned. Make sure everything is there. If some things are there twice that’s fine.

Now, as long as the WiFi is connected to the correct network, you can click the upload icon and upload the list to the central inventory.

OR…

If scanning the Tags is an issue because of where they are placed, you can make a spreadsheet that has the Building, Room, Tag#, and description of the item and submit that spread sheet to Khaled.
