ChatGPT App Installation

Installation of ChatGPT app for Windows

Please install the ChatGPT app from the Microsoft Store

  1. Open the Microsoft Store app.

  2. Search for ChatGPT and select the ChatGPT app in the search results.

  3. Verify it is ChatGPT from OpenAI and select Get

  4. When it is finished installing, select Open

  5. In the new window, select the Log in button

  6. Enter your UT IID in the email address field: yourEID@eid.utexas.edu

  7. Select Open ChatGPT

  8. Select the appropriate workspace and you are ready to chat!

    1. Only choose UT Austin - HIPAA if you actively use HIPAA data. If you use HIPPA data, you may need to have a review by the UT Information Security Office.

Installation of ChatGPT app for MacOS

To install and ChatGPT on your Mac

  1. Open Self Service: Press Cmd + Space to open Spotlight, type Self Service, and press Enter to open the app. Alternatively, you can find it in your Applications folder as "UT Self Service"

  2. Find ChatGPT: Use the search bar in the top left or browse to the Tool category to locate ChatGPT.

  3. Install: Click the Install button underneath the ChatGPT entry. The app will download and install without requiring administrator rights.

  4. Launch: Once the installation finishes, you will see a "Done" notification or the button will change to "Reinstall". Navigate to your Applications folder, open ChatGPT, and click on Log In. Sign in with your UT IID (youreid@eid.utexas.edu)
