Multimedia Guidelines
Photography
A conscious decision was made to strategically feature photography on the new LBJ core site in order to support a vibrant and positive image of the LBJ School. Photographs on the core site should:
Primarily be documentary style, including collaboration, interaction, and engagement
Prioritize diversity, but avoid artificial-looking or contrived situations
Support the LBJ brand story in a manner relevant to the content of the page
All images must include ALT text to meet web accessibility guidelines.
Hero Images
All hero images—primary header images at the tops of pages—across the site will be vetted by the web content manager before updating the website. These images should primarily:
Be of the highest quality—these are the most prominent messages we are sending through our website
Feature engaged, interactive students and faculty
Exhibit a sense of leadership and problem solving—stepping up to “get it done”
Demonstrate authenticity, thoughtfulness
Preferred images:
Include more than one person
Demonstrate engagement among students, faculty, and/or alumni
Avoid picturing clutter on and beside tables, including ball caps, water bottles, etc.
Keep diversity and inclusion standards top-of-mind
Do not depict use of alcohol
Avoid poorly lit, overly staged, low quality photos, or those that show only backs of heads or lack diversity.
Supporting Images
Supporting images within the site can feature the campus, SRH building, and location, and should:
Consider lighting and time of day
Provide a sense of place
Invoke an active, natural feel
Avoid parking lot or obstructed views, empty facilities, extreme contrast, and overly dramatic angles.

Faculty/Staff Headshots
A concerted effort has been made to encourage consistency among faculty and staff headshot images. All images used to represent faculty and staff on the core site will be vetted by the web content manager. The communications team will make every effort to ensure that each faculty member has an appropriate headshot for use on the core site.
A note on usage: faculty and staff members may use their headshots for other LBJ-related purposes, such as their LinkedIn profiles. The distribution process will be handled by the office of communications. If a faculty member wishes to use the headshot in a profit-gaining context, such as a book jacket, he or she must negotiate further rights from the photographer.
