LBJ Website Strategy & Governance
In 2015, the LBJ School decided a new website offering a more positive picture of the school with improved content, design, and user experience was needed. In 2016, an entirely new LBJ core website[1] (subsequently: “website”) debuted. This strategy and governance document explains how the LBJ core website will be sustained by:
- retaining focus on clear goals that serve specific audiences, identified as prospective students, alumni, and policy communities.
- supporting an efficient and effective workflow among content owners[2] and contributors[3] with a clear understanding of responsibilities.
- maintaining accurate, useful, usable, attractive and accessible presentations of information.
- enforcing standards and consistency in brand, voice and style.
The governance body charged with implementing this strategy is the Web Steering Committee. This document will also be used to inform, when appropriate, web properties related to the LBJ School including student organization and research center sites, as evaluated by the Web Steering Committee.
[1] The LBJ core website is defined technically as the pages that share a common code base on the UTweb hosting platform. The pages were agreed upon by the web team and executive leadership that take priority with regard to the business goals of the LBJ School (see section: Goals and Audience).
[2] Content owners are the individuals responsible for oversight of a particular section of the website, acting as a subject matter expert—particularly with regard to accuracy and keeping the information up to date.
[3] Content contributors are the individuals who will be making updates to the website, in response to requests from or with the oversight of content owners.
