The Center for Biomedical Research Support offers Short Courses each semester in diverse topics for learning computational approaches to solving biological problems. Introductory courses cover topics like RNA-Seq, Next-Gen Sequencing, Machine Learning, Unix, Data Visualization and more. These courses last a few hours for one day only.

The Annual Summer School for Big Data in Biology https://research.utexas.edu/cbrs/classes/big-data-in-biology-summer-school/

The CBRS also offers intensive courses that span introductions to biocomputing, Python programming, and high-throughput DNA and RNA sequencing analysis. These courses offer unique opportunities to gain and polish skills for biological data analysis across a wide spectrum of topics. Courses last from 4 to 5 days, starting from introductory topics and moving towards more advanced/field specific topics. Students can take multiple courses and build up data analysis skills from week to week. Oftentimes, PIs will pay the registration fee for their GRAS or post-docs. Speak with them about your interest in any courses.

In addition to the these courses, the CBRS provides many short courses to introduce the science community at UT to cutting-edge technology for enhancing research. Most of these courses are free and are 2-4 hours, lasting one day.
