Edit Data Objects

Each data object in Geographic Information System (GIS) IS is comprised of 2 components:

  • geometry
  • attributes

To start editing data click the edit button in the top, left-hand menu:

Add Features will replace the left-hand menu.

To stop editing data click the edit button in the top, left-hand menu:



Geometry Edits

If you have permission to edit feature data click on the object you wish to relocate. When the objects attribute pop-up appears left-click + hold the object and drag it to where it should appear.

Click the undo button at the bottom of the Add Features if you wish to undo your change.


Attribute Edits

  • Click the data object for which you would like to update attribute data.  Please note that often you select multiple objects that intersect or touch so use the arrow on the top, right-hand side of the pop-up to cycle through until you find the appropriate object. Click the edit button at the bottom of the pop up to begin.
  • The pop-up changes to a form and provides the mechanisms to edit the existing data:
  • Make edits as needed and click the close button
  • These changes have been saved to the database.
