Setup the FX9 Sony Camera with these recommended settings

Start Charging the Slate and the TC-1 units - Very important to charge the units 

Open

First, download the Sidus Audio App to your smart phone device.

There is an app for both Apple and Android

This will be our "master" that all of our Deity devices will sync to.

You will also need 2 Deity TC-1 Timecode Generators - one for syncing the video camera, and the other for syncing the audio recorder.

Make sure all the devices are charged either with batteries and or USB charging

The SL-1 Slate also has the same kind of button layout with an additional on/off switch.

Once the app is installed on the phone the devices won't sync unless you reset the Bluetooth 

Next step Sync the devices to the app on the phone

Lets start with the slate

Turn on with the On/Off Switch

Then press the flywheel on the side of the slate 3 times quickly to UNLOCK the slate to access menus

Look at the lock button it may or may not be locked - you want it unlocked.

Then scroll to the lock button and unlock

Once unlocked use the scroll wheel to go to the bluetooth icon and select it.

Select RESET and YES to reset the Bluetooth.

The “SUCCESS” message indicates that the reset is complete.

Note: LONG PRESS the scroll wheel to go back in the menus

Once you've reset the bluetooth on the slate then on the app on your phone select

Add by selecting the grey box with the plus sign. 

The slate TC-SL1

should show up in the app now that you reset the Bluetooth

Then choose Set Up

The device will pair and choose confirm

The Slate SL1 - device will show up in All Devices

Power your 2 Deity TC-1 by clicking the yellow side button

Then unlock the auto lock so we can access the menus by pressing the yellow button 

3 times quickly

Scroll over to the bluetooth icon 

Select RESET

Yes

Then on the app on your "bluetooth enabled" phone

Click the Add Devices and once the TC-1 is reset it should show up as a device you can add on the phone

Select them and press  Set Up button when prompted

Will pair the TC1 do this for BOTH of the TC1 devices

All three devices will be added and show up in the App like this

Next choose Sync All

Choose Sync again to sync

You will see 3/3 devices synced - Choose Confirm

This is how the app should look when all devices are synced.

Next we need to set the timecode and other settings on the slate.

Press in the center of the TC-SL1 on the app

The menu will look like this > Press the settings icon

Set the frame rate to 23.98

User bits to Day/Month/Year

VERY IMPORTANT PART ABOUT SETTING CUSTOM TIMECODE 

You can set custom timecode - THIS IS IMPORTANT so every shooting session has different hour timecode.

Day one will start at 1:00:00:00 day two will start a new timecode wherever day one left off

For example Day one used timecode hour 1 so set the custom timecode for day 2 at 2:00:00:00

(Make Sense?  The timecode for each day should be different not all timecode should start at 1:00:00:00)

Press the small (notepad/pencil)

This is good for multiple day shoots set 1 hour code for day one 2 hour code for day two and etc.

Too change the timecode click on the "pencil" edit icon

Scroll the numbers to change to the custom timecode you would like to use

Click Confirm to change

Once you've changed the code and parameters you need to sync all the devices

>Choose Sync All

Choose Sync again to sync

You will see 3/3 devices synced - Choose Confirm

This is how the app should look when all devices are synced.

Connect the TC-1 devices to their respective recorders

First, plug in the TRS to BNC cable, with the TRS end going to the TC-1, 

and the BNC end going to the Timecode in/out port on the camera examples shown here are the Canon CX350 and the FX9 make sure you plug into the correct

Be sure to have the timecode selector on the FX9 turned to the "In" position.

On the TC-1, now go to the "Out Type" selector and choose L-Out. Repeat this step on the other TC-1.

Set the Cameras Timecode menu to Free Run

Panasonic set the camera to FREE RUN

Recording > TC/UB >Free/REC RUN >FREE RUN

On the FX-9, go to the menu and go to TC/Media > Timecode

Under "Run" select the Free Run option.

Your FX9 should now be synced with the Deity ecosystem.

On the FX9 this is where you'll see the timecode to check to make sure it's matching the

Slate and the 633 timecode

See that it matches the Slate timecode

For the Sound Devices 633 audio recorder, plug in the TRS to 5P cable, with the TRS end going to the TC-1, and the 5P end going to the 633. 

Power on the 633, and press the menu button just underneath the power switch. 

Go to Timecode > Timecode Mode, and select Ext-TC/Cont

This will automatically sync your 633 to the Deity device. If there is a desync failure on set, the "Cont" option ensures that the 633 will continue to run timecode independently, instead of stopping timecode altogether. 

You should now see the 633 chasing timecode with your Deity devices.

In the app, you can select different devices to be the "Master" device. Our recommendation is to make the SL-1 Slate the master device.

Finally, make sure you press "Sync All" on the main page in the app after you are done making changes.

To power off press the yellow button on the TC1

Press Yes to confirm power off
