Camera Sanitization

  • Safety Guidelines: 

    • Recommended personal protective equipment (PPE) such as protective face masks and disposable gloves should be worn at all times while cleaning/sanitizing equipment.  

    • Ensure adequate ventilation prior to beginning any of the procedures. 

    • Hand washing with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds is recommended before and after PPE is worn.

    • Hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol can be used if soap and water are not available. 

    • All work surfaces should be cleaned and sanitized before you begin and after you are finished with all items.


Clean work surface(s) with 75% isopropyl alcohol wipe.

  • Repeat process with new wipe in order to sanitize surface(s).
  • Allow surface to air dry. Do not wipe surface in order to dry.

Remove battery and memory card(s) from camera.

  • Unplug power to camera (if applicable).

DO NOT wipe image sensor (behind back of lens cap inside camera body).

Clean camera with 75% isopropyl alcohol wipe.

  • Repeat process with new wipe in order to sanitize surface(s).
  • Allow surface to air dry. Do not wipe surface in order to dry.

Oversaturated wipes should be squeezed out BEFORE wiping camera components.


  • Wipe high touch areas such as grips, eyepiece, LCD screen and attachments.




Wipe power supply cables and any other high touch items included with camera kit.


  • Batteries
  • Battery charger
  • SD card
  • Attachments
  • Accessories

DO NOT wipe coated lens surfaces on the front and back of the lens.

Clean lens with 75% isopropyl alcohol wipe.

  • Repeat process with new wipe in order to sanitize surface(s).
  • Allow surface to air dry. Do not wipe surface in order to dry.

Oversaturated wipes should be squeezed out BEFORE wiping lens components.


  • Wipe lens grips, caps, lens shade and around lens body.
