(DC) [Windows] Signing and Encryption using Thunderbird

 

 

 

  1. Make sure you have requested and downloaded your digital certificate from Stache

  2. In Thunderbird, right click on your account name and go to Settings:

  3. In Settings - select Security:

  1. Click View Certificates and under "Your Certificates" click on Import:

  2. Browse to the location of your p12 file and select Open

  3. Enter the password provided to you in Stache:

  1. Back at the Security settings menu, click Select under "Digital Signing", your cert will be selected automatically.

  2. Select Yes - this will set the cert under the Encryption settings.

  3. Check the "Digitally Sign Messages" checkbox. Your settings should look like this:

  4. To check if messages are being signed or to toggle signing and encryption settings per message, select the Security drop-down in the compose message window.

 

Searching Address Book (GAL) for Certificates - Thunderbird

  1. Open Thunderbird.

  2. From the Tools menu, select Address Book.

  3. From the File menu, select New and choose LDAP Directory.

  4. In the General tab, enter the following information:

    • Name: "UT Directory"

    • Hostname: "ldap.utexas.edu"

    • Base DN: "dc=directory,dc=utexas,dc=edu"

    • Port: "389"

  5. Click OK, then from the File menu, select Close.
