Partner Hiring Program
The EVPP Partner Hiring Program (also referred to as the Dual Career Program) is intended to support hiring of tenured and tenure-track faculty by assisting their partners with finding employment at UT Austin or in the local community. More information is available at EVPP: Partner Hiring Program Guidelines and Process.
In exceptional circumstances, the EVPP Partner Hiring program can be used to help support retention offers. Please contact Faculty Affairs at ServiceNow: Faculty Affairs & Academic Personnel Services for additional information for these cases.

Process: Primary hire in COE and partner hire in COE
Department chair(s) discusses the proposed partner hire with the Senior Associate Dean and/or Dean.
If supported by Senior Associate Dean/Dean, partner hire department completes form "Dual Career Program" at Faculty Affairs/APS ServiceNow: Complete Forms.
In the section "Required Approval Routing," add the following:
Dean's Staff - Optional: Karla Steffen. Field is required in COE
Dean or Dean Designate: Beth Maloch
If Dual Career Program request is approved by EVPP, department submits a Posting Exemption Request for the partner hire and proceeds with usual faculty hiring procedures.
Process: Primary hire external to COE; partner hire in COE
Deans of both units discuss the proposed partner hire.
If both Deans support the proposed hire, Dean of COE discusses partner hire with chair of prospective home department and shares CV and other materials.
If department chair supports hire of the partner, CV is shared with faculty in the department (typically shared with senior members of the faculty, program area faculty and/or EC/BC members) to gauge enthusiasm/interest in the potential hire.
If more information is needed prior to inviting for a campus visit, department chair schedules a Zoom interview for candidate and a few members of the faculty.
If Zoom interview is positive, and the department continues to be interested, they invite the candidate for an on-campus visit.
Following on-campus visit, Chair convenes the EC/BC to discuss and vote on making an offer to partner hire.
Senior Associate Dean informs COE Faculty Affairs of prospective hire and shares CV and other relevant materials.
If vote is positive, department chair communicates to Senior Associate Dean the department’s decision on whether to proceed with the hire, and Senior Associate Dean/Dean communicates this to Dean Martinez and the Dean of the primary hire’s CSU.
If department is supportive of the hire:
Chair discusses with Senior Associate Dean and discusses offer terms and

Typically, the CSU of the partner hire (COE in this case) submits the Dual Career Program request. COE Faculty Affairs will confirm and work the other CSU, and will submit the form on behalf of the department as needed.
If Dual Career Program request is approved by EVPP, department submits a Posting Exemption Request for the partner hire. In the section "Required Approval Routing," add the following:
Dean's Staff - Optional: Karla Steffen. Field is required in COE
Dean or Dean Designate: Beth Maloch
