Identifying Detector Issues

Identifying Detector Issues

Here is a guide to troubleshooting what could be wrong with the detectors if you are having issues. Please attempt all of these steps before contacting IGRINS support.

  1. If you are remote, ask the ROA to verify that the detectors are turned on and that all the cables are seated properly (e.g. power cable connections between the power supply and the MACIEs and network cable connections between the network switch on the electronics rack and the MACIEs)

    1. If you are in person, we will add images to this page in the future so observers can do this themselves. For now, call ROA so they can come in person to verify the detectors are on and the connections to the detectors are made properly.

  2. Do the detector computers show up on the ICC?

    1. If they do appear and the mount is failing, see this page: Check Mount Fails

The expected location and IP addresses of the detector computers as seen from the Finder on the ICC.
    2. If they are not and you have verified the connections and the power look good, attempt running the detector restart script as outlined here: One or more detectors do not read out or the Data Taking Package is frozen

      1. Only then, if these steps are not successful, contact IGRINS support.
