Wrench, Box End - 1/4” x 5/16”
Veeco Dial Torque Wrench and Socket (1/4”, 6 pt.)
Gasket – 6” Silver
Gasket plate - buy new from veeco
Moly bolts for sealing ring x 16 - buy new from veeco
Notes
Make sure valve is open! (Ensures crucible is vented and pumped down)
Can reload on the system
Open and Load
Purge the water lines with N2 over several hours &/or cap to prevent H2O presence.
Open needle valve if not already open.
Vent BOS
Remove the top of the sublimator and put aside (in clean foil)
Leave 6" gasket on to protect knife edge during crucible opening and loading
Note: New As cell's are shipped without a crucible gasket plate installed
Remove the sealing ring using a UHV clean torque wrench and place in clean UHV clean foil (save bolts in clean UHV foil boat)
Note: The bolts will not be re-used except if the cracker has just been sent from Veeco without a gasket plate installed (e.g. brand new or re-built)
Remove gasket plate (we do not reuse this) with UHV pliers on tabs (This can be thrown away)
P2 removes As bottle(s) from outer wrapping and cuts open last bag
P1 opens As bottle(s) and carefully pours contents into crucible
Do not get any As anywhere other than in the crucible! Especially in the sublimator but outside the crucible-- don't do that!
P1 hands closed bottle back to P2 who seals it in a bag and puts aside
Repeat for second bottle until unable to continue filling crucible (~ 650g loaded on Echo 12/11/20)
Close
P1 carefully wipes inner crucible knife edge (and puts on new clean glove(s), like after any knife edge wiping)
P2 cuts open gasket plate bag with clean scissors
P1 uses clean gloves to remove gasket plate and insert into crucible with tabs aligned
P2 unwraps sealing ring for P1 to grab
P1 replaces sealing ring while P2 makes strong UHV foil boat for new moly bolts
Note: Unless we re-use the bolts, which is only if the cracker has just been sent from Veeco without a gasket plate installed (e.g. brand new or re-built)
P2 opens new moly bolts bag and pours them into strong UHV foil boat. P2 will hold this boat over the open UHV tool container in case it rips.
P1 inserts all bolts, finger tight
P1 uses clean socket and veeco dial torque torque wrench to tighten bolts, sequentially 30 in/lbs, 60 in/lbs, 90 in/lbs 3x each
P1 uses clean gasket pullers to remove 6" gasket from the top of the sublimator and wipes knife edges
P2 cuts new 6" silver gasket, P1 puts gasket on evaporator knife edge
P2 unwraps top of sublimator, P1 replaces top of evaporator, P3 closes N2 line
P1 replaces and tightens bolts
Prior to pump down, continuity check the cell
Leave valve open during pump down
After pump down, continuity check the cell and leak check
