Triple Dopant
The MBE Componenten Triple Cluster Source TCS 63-3x6-22-3S-2201870 (Triple Dopant) arrived in September of 2020 and is currently being installed on Echo. File:MBE Komponenten Echo Triple Dopant Cell.pdf
Installation Notes
Cell Installation and Orientation
The cell is attached to a 4.5" nipple with the rotatable flange on the cell-side. Locations where studs are necessary to attach the cell to the nipple are marked "X."
The water lines on the cell are oriented up.
Highly recommend pulling the nipple and cell together.
Metric Parts
Metric water lines, 6mm to 1/4 in adaptors installed
M8 bolt for grounding (manual incorrectly says M6)
Power Cables
The cell is powered by a single 4-pin amphenol cable that is connected to three separate Sorensons that share a common ground. Therefore, when ohming out the cell you will find that the pins are not isolated (insert chart showing typical Ohm out results). Three of the amphenol pins are for each individual dopant and the last is unconnected within the cell. The cables are grounded to an 8mm (not 6mm as the manual says) bolt on the side of the cell.
Shutter Operation
Details and pictures about how the three internal shutters work.
Eurotherm Configuration
Frank suggestions:
<500 (Sp1) P =70 ti =150 td =40
> 500 (Sp2) P = 100 ti =20 td=5
Oprr/SpRR =2-5 (we chose 5 for melting Si/Be)
PID Values Used
Copied PID values from DD Be on Bravo
P=620
ti=80
td=2
Melting Si/Be in TD
Melting Si
Ramped to 1200 C at 20 C/min and then to 1400 C at 50 C/min. (Maybe) observed melting at 1410C, brought to 1420 C for 3 minutes and cooled down
Melting Be
Ramped to 1070 C at 20 C/min. Ramped to 1290 at 50 C/min. Harder to see if melted, ramped to 1310 (T recommended in manual) and then ramped down to 350 at 50 C/min.
