Solar Cell Testing/Manufacturing (w/ D2)
What to test:
Cell Concave flexibility
Cells efficiency under partial shading at different times of the day
Cell efficiency with sunlight coming through canopy (polycarbonate)
D2 Questions:
Array Attachment: We have traditionally used VHB tape to attach the array directly to the top shell. I’ve attached an updated layout of the top shell for your reference. Please let me know if you need additional details regarding the design.
Thermocouples: We would appreciate it if you could share the datasheet for the thermocouples you typically use. If unavailable, we’ve identified a couple of potential options:
Additional Questions:
We were uncertain about the required thickness for these, so please advise if they are unsuitable for embedding. Additionally, could you clarify:
Will you take a reference temperature for the cold joint of the thermocouple?
Why are thermocouples preferred over thermistors for this application?
Backing for Array Panels: The concept of pre-attaching the array to fiberglass or carbon fiber sheets sounds promising, but we have a few concerns:
Could you provide the weight of these sheets?
How would the backing impact the flexibility of the cells
How might this impact our air-cooling system, which relies on airflow to the back of the array?
Would panel replacements become significantly more challenging with this approach?
Irradiance Sensor Square: This might be a viable option. Where do you recommend placing it—on the modules, between modules, or elsewhere?
