D2 Meeting 6/23
Purpose: Discuss a plan for out budget in regards to purchasing test modules
Desired list of modules:
One module with 2x4 module with no backing, D2 diode, thermocouple, and front connections
One module with 2x4 module with hard backing, D2 diode, thermocouple, and back connections
One module with 2x4 modules with soft backing, D2 diode, thermocouple, and back connections
One module with 2x4 module with hard backing, MEGA Diode, thermocouple, and front connections
One module with 2x4 modules with soft backing, MEGA Diode, thermocouple, and back connections
One module with 2x4 module with hard backing, MEGA Diode, thermocouple, and back connections
One module with 2x4 modules with soft backing, Smart TI Diode, thermocouple, and front connections
One module with 2x4 module with hard backing, Smart TI Diode, thermocouple, and back connections
One module with 2x4 modules with soft backing, Smart TI Diode, thermocouple, and back connections
Reduced list of modules:
One module with 2x4 module with no backing, Smart TI Diode, thermocouple, and front connections
One module with 2x4 module with hard backing, D2 diode, thermocouple, and back connections
One module with 2x4 modules with soft backing, D2 diode, thermocouple, and back connections
One module with 2x4 module with hard backing, MEGA Diode, thermocouple, and back connections
One module with 2x4 modules with soft backing, MEGA Diode, thermocouple, and back connection
Notes:
The desired list of modules was estimated to be $8k at D2’s normal rate (which is likely out of our budget). Hopefully they give us a substantial enough discount. If not, ask for a quote for the reduced list of modules.
06/23/25 Meeting Notes (with Michael Phan)
General:
Wanting to keep total package under $15k
Total Power for Array: ~5kWh
Typical cost: $20 / Watt
Payment Plan:
Upfront package: Agreed upon number of hours for the work, and then a set deliverable (Michael’s recommendation)
Order: More flexible, by number of hours
Hardhik’s Suggestion: 3 - 4 segments with finding ways to decrease costs between each of the segments
Registering D2 as an official vendor with UT Austin: Doing some sort of partnership to get D2 registered as an official vendor with UT would allow them to help out and decrease costs for us when we buy materials from them
Reliability Testing: Can be found on their website (i.e. thermal cycle chambers, expose to UV, humidity chambers)
