Sim Setup Explanation

  1. Take the 24_DYN_3101 NARRCO Rack Assembly file and hide all components except:

    1. Rack Shaft (A body in the NARRCO Rack Part Assemby file)

    2. All bodies in the clevis part file

    3. Both of the DL-90128A634-McMaster (0.375-16x2.5 SH) parts

  1. Create a Static Structural System in ANSYS

    1. Engieneering Data (From Min_Materials)

      1. 4130 Steel Normalized

      2. 7075 T6 Aluminum

      3. 6061 T6 Aluminum

    2. Geometry

      1. Import the NARRCO Rack Assembly (with only the parts listed above shown)

    3. Mechanical

      1. Geometry

        1. Rack Shaft → 7075 T6

        2. Socket Head Screw → 4130 (place holder )

        3. Clevis

          1. Clevis → 4130

          2. Cone Spacers → 6061

          3. Extender → 6061

      2. Contacts

        1. SocketHead & Rack Shaft (Bonded)

        2. Extender (Hex Dominant)

        3. Default Size: 1e-3m for everything else

        1. Fixed Support → Rack Shaft

        2. Remote Force at each Clevis

          1. Coordinate System (Clevis, not global)
