• Words or phrases that are revised or reformulated, whether by varying distinctly in pronunciation (as in repeated attempts to reach the correct phonology) or by revision to the structure or content of the phrase are marked as follows:
  1. For single revised words:

     1. Be sure to look at the ultimate revision as a reference for how much of the original was revised and thus how much to enclose in the carrots

Exceptions: 

Cliticized Verbal Pairs

1. In cases where there is a revision in Catalan that includes a preverbal clitic in the first verb and a postverbal clitic in the second verb, we must code the revision around the words without clitics. For example, let's take a look at the following utterance:
   
   a. s'estan passant estan passant-ho
   
   This is tricky because if we code it as a revision of the first two words, "estan" and "passant", as in (b), we will lose the clitic "s'", as in (c):

Coding:

b. <s'estan passant> [//] estan passant-ho 

Output:

c. estan passant-ho

Likewise, if we do the same with the last two words, we lose "-ho":

Coding:

d. s'estan passant <estan passant-ho> [//]

Output:

e. s'estan passant

For this reason, we need to code it in a slightly unusual way where we "cut" out the words that will not make us lose access to the clitics. This means that we code for a revision in a way that is "across" the original and repeated phrases:

g. s'estan passant-ho
