WinCompute - Map Austin Disk Share


This is run guidance to specifically map Dr. Su Yeong Kim's Austin Disk share in a WinCompute session.  This guidance can be generalized by replacing "/hdfs/SYKim" with the Austin DIsk Share path.

Run Guidance

Logging into WinCompute Using Web Interface

  1. Open a browser.
  2. Navigate to  You must be on the University network or logged into VPN.
  3. Log in using your EID and password.
  4. Click the CNS Stats icon.
  5. Select your access to local resources, and click Allow.
  6. At this screen, you will automatically be sent a DUO challenge - you must approve it to continue.
  7. Click OK on the University Acceptable Usage dialog.

Logging into WinCompute Using Remote Desktop

  1. Open a Remote Desktop Connection application.  On a Windows client, click the Windows button and type "Remote".
  2. Type into the Computer field: and click Connect.
  3. You will be prompted for your User name and Password.
  4. Enter "AUSTIN\yourEID" in the User Name field and your UT EID password in the Password field.
  5. Click OK on the University Acceptable Usage dialog.

Map Network Drive

  1. Open Windows Explorer.  Click the Windows button in the lower left and type "File Explorer".
  2. Click This PC in the left panel of the File Explorer window.
  3. Click the Computer tab at the top of the File Explorer window if it isn't already.  Click the Map network drive icon and select Map network drive option in the drop down menu.
  4. Select any unused letter in the Drive drop down menu.
  5. In the Folder input, type: \\\disk\hdfs\SYKim, check the Reconnect at sign-in checkbox and click Finish.
  6. 442pxThis may open a new File Explorer window to the mapped location.  You must have access to the HDFS share to access the SYKim file share.
  7. The mapped drive will be available in the File Explorer each time you log into your WinCompute session.
