How can I access this software
Arena v16.20 - the installation process requires two software installs to work - Arena and FactoryTalk Activation Manager - as well as activating the license using the FactoryTalk Activation Manager.
Step 1: Installing Arena and FactoryTalk Activation Manager
Download link (password provided by your professor) - https://utexas.box.com/v/mech-arena-download
Download the Arena folder on your computer. Right-click and extract the zipped folder to your desired location.
Open the folder and select/open either the 32-bit or 64-bit folder.
Most people should select/install the 64-bit version, but you will need to ensure your Microsoft Office Suite is 64-bit. If you have 32-bit Office, install 32-bit Arena or upgrade your Office apps to 64-bit using your available licensing through UT M365. This is assuming your Windows operating system is also 64-bit.
Select the MediaImage folder.
Double-click autorun.exe to launch the Arena 2022 installation wizard and choose “Install Arena 64-bit” (or “Install Arena 32-bit” if you selected that version).
If you are installing the 64-bit, confirm the 64-bit Arena and 64-bit Office notice.
Prerequisite installations will proceed.
After that finishes, proceed with Arena 16.20 installation.
Enter in your name and UT Austin as the company. You can leave serial number field blank.
Standard Feature Set Installation to Default Location should be chosen. Click Next, then Install.
After Arena is installed, click Finish and go back to the Arena 2022 installation wizard window and select Install FactoryTalk Activation Manager and proceed with the installation.
When finished, click Restart now to reboot your computer to complete the process.
SAP Crystal Reports installation (if needed)
Go back to the downloaded Arena folder (same bit version you installed) and open the MediaImage folder.
Select the Redist folder.
Select the Crystal folder and run the CRRuntime file to install SAP Crystal Reports.
Step 2: Activating your Arena license
Get the license server information from your professor.
Open Factory Talk Activation Manager (Start → All Programs → Rockwell Software → FactoryTalk Activation Manager)
Select the Manage Activation tab > Find Available Activations.
Above the Path to Activations section, click on the Update Activation Search Path link near the top right.
Select Add Server and in the new path row that is created, type the (license server host name) provided by your professor.
Click the box in the Selected column to enter a check mark next to the license server host name you entered.
Click Up (to move it up in priority) and then click Save.
Click Refresh Activations at the bottom. You should see the Arena activations populate under Available activations (make sure you’re on the UT network or VPN).
You can close the FactoryTalk Activation Manager and launch Arena (Start → All Programs → Rockwell Software → Arena).
This will initiate a license check-out from the license server. Once done with Arena, close the software to release the license back to the server.
We have a 30-seat license. Up to 30 individuals can have Arena open at one time.
If for some reason you can’t be connected to the UT network or UT VPN and need to use Arena, please contact mech-it@austin.utexas.edu.
Clean-up
You may delete the downloaded zipped and un-zipped Arena folders after you have installed all required and optional software.
