How can I access this software

  • MasterCam for Solidworks is available for personal systems by doing the following:

    • Licensing

      By downloading you agree to and accept the following license requirements:

      • You will not leave the software running, and will close the application at the end of each session of use. (A computer running Mastercam is logged into the license server and uses one of a finite number of ‘seats’ of the license.) Exiting the software will free that seat for someone else.

      • You will not use the software to create programs for parts that you will sell.

      • Upon leaving UT, currently licensed users do not have the continued right to use this software and should delete it from their personally-owned machines.

    • Download and install for Windows

      • MasterCAM installer - you will need a password from your professor

      • Run the downloaded setup file

    • Setup the license

      • Open the now installed "Code Meter Control Center" from Code Meter folder in the start menu

      • Click "WebAdmin in the bottom right corner

      • Go to "Configuration / Basic / Server Search List"

      • Click Add and enter "me-license1.austin.utexas.edu" for the server and click Apply

    • Connect to the campus VPN

      • Use the campus VPN service before opening Mastercam (https://vpn.utexas.edu)

Common Problems

• Error "The Mastercam 2018 for Solidworks product failed to load"

  • In the Tools>Add-Ins menu, try un-checking Both boxes Solidworks CAM (Load and Load at startup) then restart Solidworks. 

  • In the Tools>Add-Ins menu, try checking the box for Mastercam to load at Start Up, close Solidworks, and reopen it.
