 COMSOL is restricted to class use only

How can I access this software 

• COMSOL is is available via:

  • Install onto personally owned laptops

     

    • Download the installation files from: https://utexas.box.com/v/MECH-Comsol-download

      • You will need the password for the site above, from your instructor, prior to downloading

      • Right-click the downloaded exe file, choose properties, and make sure the file doesn't have a block attached (https://thirtysix.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202921675-How-to-Unblock-a-File-Downloaded-from-an-Email-or-the-Internet)

      • Run the downloaded installer

      • Select language and click "Next"

      • Click "New COMSOL 6.0 Installation"

      • On the license page:

        • Click the button to accept the agreement

        • Change the license format to "<port number>@<hostname>"

        • For port number enter "1718"

        • For Hostname enter "me-license1.austin.utexas.edu"

        • Click "Check" to verify connection to the license service (see VPN note above)

        • Click "Next"

      • On the Products page

        • Unselect "License Manager"

        • Click "Next"

      • Change any options wanted on the Options page and click "Next"

      • For LiveLink, you can select if you already have the link software installed, click "Next"

      • Click "Install"

      • Click "Close" when the installer is done
