Coordinate with the graduate program administrator as necessary on committee responsibilities.
Meet with students 1:1 in fall semester
Meet with students in groups (before and after candidacy) in spring semester
Update university catalogue of changes
Facilitate and organize review of candidacy requirements
Facilitate and organize annual review of student progress
Approve program of work for Master’s thesis and dissertations
Conduct orientation of new students in August
Present graduate program at recruitment weekend in Spring
Submit reports to the Graduate School for accreditation (Tracdat)
Attend CNS graduate advisor meetings
Facilitate Assistant Instructor Schedule/find instructors for AI assignments
Plan future graduate course offering
Sign off on dissertation committee changes for students
Sign off on extensions of F1 visa application with international office
Handle petitions for early or late departures from assigned TA/RA duties
Manage and disburse professional development funds from the graduate school twice a year
Answer email inquiries from prospective students applying to program
Participate in chair’s meeting with chair and undergraduate advisor
Advise students on coursework
Email students about job opportunities, internships, fellowships, etc
Supervise dissemination of Whose Who guide
Meet with graduate student assembly co-chairs
