Media Importer Guide

General process overview

This describes the process to transfer files from your personal computer onto the TMS server for use with the Media Studio importer tool. The following pages cover the process in more detail: file transfers and importer tool.

Step 1: Authenticate your Connection

Step 1: Authenticate your Connection

On Campus

Work from Home

To connect to the TMS server, you must first connect to our campus VPN with the Cisco app to authenticate your log in when you are working on site and connected to campus network.

Must provide your IP address when connected to your home wifi to be whitelisted for access. Contact Database Manager.

Step 2: Connect to SFTP Folder Using Cyberdyuck

You will first move files onto the TMS server using the SFTP app Cyberduck. Drag and drop your files for the importer into your personal folder in the Cyberduck window. This transfers your files from your computer directly to the TMS server.

Step 3: Connect to Remote Server

You will connect to the TMS server using the Windows App (or Microsoft Remote Desktop). This uses your TMS login and password. (not your EID). The TMS server is a remote windows computer that you are logging into.

Only two users can be logged in at once. If other users have active sessions, please contact them to verify whether they are actively working.

Step 4: Move Files into Working Folder

Once connected to the TMS server, move the files from your sftp folder to your personal working folder.

Always use the SIGN OUT option when you are finished with your work on the TMS server. NEVER click to shut down the PC. (you will “turn off” TMS for everyone)

Step 5: Use Importer Tool in Media Studio

Log into Media Studio and create a new import job.
