next gen we’re using michelins. so when cross referencing tires and looking at teams who competed in fsgp, we’re able to look at some given specs off the website. teams that are sponsored by bridgestone and are running bridgestone tires are using the tire dimensions of 95/80R16. assuming the bridgestone those teams run are the “ecopias”, we can use a similar dimension tire of a different brand while we work on getting ecopias. the michelins are in the dimensions 95/80R16, so when we designed for the ecopias, the michelins have the same dimensions so it doesn’t mess with out kinematic and stuff. the current wheels we have (nomura co) can fit the 95/80R16 rubber tires. (i think stanford is running nomura co and michelins of same spec)

I reached out to nomnom, got a quote of 1.1k per rim w/ 3 month lead time

9:12

total w/ fees and shipping for 2 rims from nomnom is $2,718.45

9:14

i'll ask china (mostly just curious about their price) but i think nomnom would prolly be ideal tbh

For just manufacturing (no shipping / import tax)Ella:

  • 1.6k for 2

Nomnom:

  • 2.2k for 2

9:57

So like a 800 dollar difference

The prices above are the costs that I got from both abt just getting the rims.I do have nomnom’s additional fees which include shipping and all (apart from import) which makes his total closer to $2.7kFor Ella, I think she only charges shipping and she did mention she would sent in through a different channel to avoid the such high import fees we had last time

Iirc Ella does not give shipping costs until stuff is manufactured and packed but I can ask for a general assumption
