Tube Crushing Force Calculations
Problem Statement:
Find the maximum crushing force for a tube (1.500” x 0.065”) subjected to transverse loading from another tube
At a T-welded section, one tube is pressed against another, applying external pressure to cause a localized indentation on the surface of the other tube. We want to determine the force applied to cause this failure mode
Boundary Conditions:
Lateral loading on the curved face of the target tube, load distribution follows a circular cross-section of the tube applying the load
The ends of the bottom tube are welded
Are we assuming just a singular load or also axial/bending loads?

Do we understand the failure modes of the tube when loaded with these conditions
