Introduction of livery design team members (~3 mins)

Each member of the design team will introduce themselves and qualifications

Run through of meeting goals and agenda (~3 mins)

Preliminary design showcase (~20 mins)

Each member will have 5 minutes to showcase their designs and discuss design choices (inluding vision) with the group. at this time there will be no questions (listening only), save criticisms for feedback

Feedback (~30 mins)

All meeting participants will have the chance to give feedback and ask questions. Priority for this meeting is coming to a consensus for the car lettering. This will be done through a pros and cons format (see below). We will go through each title one by one and list pros and cons. Please be open to changing your mind!

If there is time, we can discuss other topics listed below.

When giving criticism, if you do not like something, you must state why you do not like it (i.e. what is it detracting from the design). You must also offer a suggestion on how to make the chosen aspect stronger and why this will make the overall design stronger. It is not enough to just say you do not like something.

Vote on lettering with whoever is present

Link for voting will be sent in the livery slack when we get here

Consensus (~5 mins)

Wrapping up meeting with a summary of our consensus

@Anshu Patel

Original

New

Kayla:

  • Front gradient is nice, new back of canopy gradient is nice because its brighter

  • old texas location looks good to avoid the wheel cutouts

    • in this version, 80 being larger would be nice

Saahil:

  • appropriate text and numbers sizing

  • flowiness of it

Evan:

  • likes the font of this one the most

@Saahil Patnaik

Texas 80

Back gradient and stripes through

No wheel cutouts

Kayla:

  • Me likey

  • concerns about cutouts

  • try to make less dark gradient portions so the colors stand out?

  • Love the text, font, size

    • could potentially change Texas font since its a little details

  • stripes on the first one are nicer

  • I like the original having two different chunks of gradient vs the new one is just the rear

    • the color is too dark though

  • For cutouts version:

    • maybe move stripes forward, move texas / austin to in front of 80 and in a diff style to stand out on top of gradient

Anshu:

  • change Texas font

  • likes the 80

Maya:

  • stripes continuity from canopy to body is nice

Matthew:

  • doesn't like the 80 font or the 0

@Maya Ramani

Kayla:

  • Heatmap gradient is very nice I like that it avoid bubbles with and without it looks good

    • maybe a bit more blue tone in the dark portions would be nice

    • would add more orange to the front portion of the gradient

  • Austin 80 font could be better and a diff color

    • 80 font change could be nice and make it larger / in a different location

  • I really like the top shell rim color

  • agree with Evan

  • Also ^ might be nice to put slightly more white space for the purpose of logos and names etc.

Evan:

  • concerned about where to put logos

@Evan Zhang

Kayla:

  • I like the idea of the gradient but not that the dark color is the main one

  • Keep longhorn but do a variation of it where its solid or an outline

    • white, white outline,

  • we should have the longhorn variation on anyways

Requirements/Goals Setting

Requirement

Notes

Crucial (1-3)

Requirement

Notes

Crucial (1-3)

Must decide on what sort of lettering will be on the car

Options: Austin 80, TX 80, Texas 80, 80

The lettering of the numbers must be 250mm high and each 120 mm wide w/ a spacing of 25 mm in between.

They must be solid in coloring and must have a minimum of 50mm unobstructed background color on all sides.

3

IF THERE IS TIME: discussion of amount of dark color allowed to be used (and location)

Worries about the shell getting too hot, we have already decided that there will be no dark color on the canopy

Pros and Cons of Each Title

Title

Pros

Cons

Title

Pros

Cons

Austin 80

  • Legacy from last year (most of our team members identify with this)

  • Most self indentifying

  • Longest, uses the most space

  • “ugly” word according to some

  • Does Austin represent our school?

Texas 80

  • More identifying than Austin (via football team)

  • Less letters than Austin

  • Still total many letters

  • Not legacy

  • May be redundant w/ Texas logo

TX 80

  • Very short but still includes some form of Texas

  • Least aesthetic… looks like a highway

  • Not that identifying

80 (w/ longhorn logo of some sort)

  • Likely takes up the least space

  • Fits w/ how the car is shaped

  • Most aesthetic

  • May not be that identifying to other countries

  • May be too subtle

Action Items

  • send the current designs to Graphics Guys to make sure

    • bubbles integration - show them the bubbles and check that they can do them later

    • ask if they want us to unwrap it or if they will

  • confirm the lettering with ASC officials
